The belief in the power of the spirits of the ancestors and the influence of more than one god, which is deeply rooted in the hearts and minds of many Higaunon. Most of the mainland still have a strong belief in the existence of gods and spirits. 'Surfaces god' is Magbabaya, the Creator of all aspects of life. There are some lesser gods. Each 'under god' has dominion over a specific part of the natural environment.
